Fire Station Study
The Township of Muskoka Lakes is assessing the future of its fire stations, and your input is essential.
Eight of the Township’s ten fire stations are approaching 40 years of age and need upgrades. Limited space and overlapping service areas reduce efficiency. To address this, the Township, working with Emergency Management Group Inc., has proposed three options.
- 10-Station Status Quo: Rebuild existing stations over time.
- 7-Station Model: The recommended option. Close three, modernize two, and rebuild four to reduce overlap and improve coverage.
- 5-Station Model: Build new, larger stations at five locations.
No decisions have been made yet. The Council is seeking community feedback before proceeding.
Why it matters:
Modernized stations mean improved coverage, quicker response times, and more innovative use of Township resources. The study isn’t just about buildings; it’s about ensuring long-term safety and sustainability for all residents.
